Last night I remember that I dreamed. And of that dream I can only recall two specific moments. The first was trying to pick out a DVD with an ex-girlfriend - I'm not sure if we were renting or buying but we were looking at Disney's "Wall-E". Odd, considering I had wanted to see that film in theaters with that very same ex. We never did and eventually ended our relationship. However that's not the really ODD part.
The second specific I recall is that of 2 owls perched on the western rail of my apartment suite balcony; they were facing to the east. It seems to me that the setting was the present day (ie: winter 2009) and that it was dark out. Evening? Night? Just before dawn? I cannot say. Anyway, I was up for whatever reason and saw them there. This startled and amazed me (inner-city owls?!) and immediately I wanted to get a picture. So I went back and got my phone which, unfortunately for me, is my only decent camera at the moment. When I return 1 owl is gone but the other closest to the building remains. Not wanting to risk startling it and have it fly away, I get my phone's camera up and running and ready before popping my head out to snap the shot. Then I go for it. I stick the phone out and snap the shot. It's decent but kinda blurry and I only got half of him... so I go for another picture... and that's all I remember.
What's REALLY interesting, to me anyway, is that I RARELY recall any dream specifics but I can easily recall these two. Why? Who knows? Maybe these folks do:

"Owl
To see an owl in your dream, symbolizes wisdom, insight and virtue. The owl is also synonymous with death and darkness.
To hear the hoot of an owl, denotes disappointments and forewarns that death creeps closely in the wake of joy and health.
To see a dead owl, signifies a narrow escape from desperate illness and death. Death in this sense may also represent a symbolic death, as in an important transition in life."

Owl
"Wisdom, outstanding vision, ability to see what others have difficulty seeing. Dreaming of this animal can represent:
- Having too much of one of these qualities, or that you could benefit by being less this way
- Not having enough of one of these qualities, or that you could benefit by being more like this
- Someone or something in your real life with whom you associate one of these qualities (an event, situation, threat, etc.)
For more clues, pay attention to what the animal was doing or any particular characteristic that stood out.See also: night bird"

"Owl
To hear the solemn, unearthly sound of the muffled voice of the owl, warns dreamers that death creeps closely in the wake of health and joy. Precaution should be taken that life is not ruthlessly exposed to his unyielding grasp. Bad tidings of the absent will surely follow this dream.
To see a dead owl, denotes a narrow escape from desperate illness or death.
To see an owl, foretells that you will be secretly maligned and be in danger from enemies.
Screech-owl
To dream that you hear the shrill startling notes of the screech-owl, denotes that you will be shocked with news of the desperate illness, or death of some dear friend."

As a side-note I'd like to add that the owls never did anything but sit on the balcony rail facing east. They made no sound and I never saw them move. It was when I returned from getting my phone that one had simply vanished. Maybe it was never there in the first place? But it felt to me like there were two and one left for some reason. So very strange...
